Minutes documenting the activities of eight watershed management organizations (WMOs). In 1982, the legislature approved the Metropolitan Surface Water Management Act (Minn. Stat. 103B) which required local units of government in the seven-county metropolitan area to prepare and implement comprehensive surface water management plans through membership in a WMO. The WMOs may be joint powers organizations or watershed districts, with boundaries based as closely as possible on natural watershed boundaries.
